The Mossy family entered the automotive industry over 70 years ago in New Orleans, and later moved to Houston. In 1982, Phil Mossy expanded the family business into San Diego with the purchase of the Nissan dealership in National City. At the time, the dealership was ranked eighth of eight by the Nissan Corporation. Under his leadership, Mossy Nissan National City soon became number one in volume for Nissan nationwide. Soon thereafter, Phil was joined by his brother Peter Mossy, and in just a few short years, Mossy has grown from one dealership - with approximately 200 employees - to where we are today with fourteen dealerships of various automotive brands, including the 7 Mossy Nissan locations and approximately 2,000 employees. We attribute this growth to the philosophy of the Mossy Family:
