NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nissan's Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant continues its reign as the top-producing automotive plant in North America, as Gov. Bill Haslam, U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander and Tennessee Economic and Community Development Commissioner Randy Boyd joined plant employees to celebrate the start of production for the all-new 2016 Nissan Maxima.

The Maxima is hardly a four-door sports car but its dramatic styling, comfortable cabin, and extensive list of features make it a compelling choice. There’s a 300-hp 3.5-liter V-6 under the hood but it’s mated to a CVT and drives the front wheels. Navigation is standard, as are two touch screens and dual-zone automatic climate control. Moving up the range adds goodies like semi-aniline leather seats, Bose audio and access to NissanConnect—a full suite of telematics and live concierge services.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – WardsAuto has named the 2016 Nissan Maxima's new 3.5-liter VQ-series V6 engine to its annual “Wards 10 Best Engines" list for 2016, a prestigious honor that has been a staple in the automotive industry since it first began in 1994. The honor marks Nissan's 17th Wards 10 Best Engines trophy and the auto company's 15th for the VQ-series V6, the most awarded engine in 10 Best Engines history. The Maxima's 300-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine will be honored at the Wards 10 Best Engines banquet on Wednesday, January 13, in Detroit.

About the Testing AMCI Testing obtained the Acura, Audi and BMW anonymously from manufacturer authorized dealerships. The 2016 Nissan Maxima SR was obtained from Nissan North America (the 2016 Maxima goes on sale in early June).AMCI Testing certified lap times were set by two AMCI Testing certified test drivers on Buttonwillow Raceway Park's West Loop (Configuration 28, Clockwise). All stability and traction controls were in the off position for all laps, and each lap began from a 40 MPH "Pace Car" start.
