The 2014 Nissan Titan has More than Enough Muscle to Get the Job Done

The 2014 Nissan Titan has more than enough muscle to get the job done. See why you'll love it for the long haul in Kelley Blue Book's review:

Keeping truck-buying simple.

The Nissan Titan isn't the sales leader in the full-size truck segment, but where the Titan does excel is in simplicity. You can choose extended (King) cab or Crew Cab, short or long bed and two- or four-wheel drive, but there is one engine, one transmission and one axle ratio, making this the easiest half-ton to order on the market. And changes are coming that may make the Titan a genuine contender against the likes of the F-150, Ram 1500 and Silverado.

Driving It

Some impressions from our full review: "The 2014 Nissan Titan's engine isn't the most powerful V8 in its class, but it's far from tepid, with good punch off the line and more than enough muscle to get the job done, whether that's passing slower traffic or hauling a heavy trailer (9,500 pounds is the max towing capacity) up a long grade."

A New Titan Is Coming

After more than 10 years on the market in essentially the same form as when it debuted, Nissan is finally introducing a new Titan, likely to be unveiled at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. While we don't know how different the new truck will look, Nissan has officially announced that the new Titan will be available with a V8 turbodiesel under the hood.

Build and Price

The Nissan Titan starts out at just above $30,000 for a two-wheel-drive King Cab. Choose the Crew Cab with four-wheel drive and all the bells and whistles, and that price climbs to nearly $48,000.

Fans voted at each stage along the way, giving Nissan direction for almost every inch of the truck.

Outside, a "Recon Titan" wrap with a digital-camouflage design pays homage to some of the most capable vehicles in the military. A NISMO cold-air intake and Borla cat-back exhaust system open up airflow on both ends of the Titan's Endurance® 5.6-liter V-8 engine. the hazardous Alaskan landscape is handled by 18-inch Fuel Revolver D525 wheels wrapped in 35-inch Nitto Trail Grappler M/T tires. Come nightfall, Bulldog LED Lighting illuminates the way, while an ARB Deluxe Bull Bar provides high-quality protection to help conquer the unknown.

Inside, a streamlined interior gives the truck a more customized feel, while a freshened shifter and steering wheel lead to a more comfortable drive. New, rugged Katzkin leather-wrapped seats feature Project Titan and Wounded Warrior Project embroidery. Coordinated tan stitching is found on the seats, steering wheel and door panels. Adding utility to the experience, Project Titan tows a matching customized all-terrain camping trailer featuring a camp-style kitchen, tent, water/fuel storage and a spare tire.

The two will trek over mountains and through valleys in the ultimate Titan, braving the muddy, rocky terrain and encountering an occasional wild animal. With the brisk onset of fall invading the Last Frontier, it's likely the WWP Alumni can expect some of the first snowflakes of the season.

2014 Nissan Frontier and Titan among Edmunds.com's "Top 9 Most Fuel-Efficient Trucks for 2014"

The 2014 Frontier earns second place, Titan ranks ninth

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Already known for its fuel-efficient sedans and SUVs, Nissan is keeping fuel efficiency a priority as gas prices remain high. Edmunds.com named the 2014 Nissan Frontier and the 2014 Nissan Titan among its "Top 9 Most Fuel Efficient Trucks for 2014." The Frontier tied for second with 21 mpg combined highway/city fuel economy, while the Titan finished ninth with 15 mpg combined highway/city fuel economy.

"People have associated pickup trucks with low gas mileage for many years, but we’re defeating that stereotype," said Dan Mohnke, vice president, Nissan Chief Marketing Manager & Marketing Operations. "We've worked hard to produce pickups that not only provide excellent towing capability and ample cargo space, but also impressive fuel efficiency. This recognition by Edmunds validates our efforts to make fuel efficiency a priority across all platforms, from sedans to pickups."
The popular 2014 Nissan Frontier, which sold over 60,000 units in 2013, continues to be a leader in the mid-size truck segment, combining premium hardware and ample power. Frontier also offers an exceptional level of on- and off-road performance from either a 261 horsepower 4.0-liter DOHC V6 engine or an economical 152 horsepower 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder - which delivers 23 mpg highway. The 2014 Frontier is offered in both King Cab and Crew Cab body styles and in 4x2 and 4x4.
The powerful, full-size 2014 Nissan Titan offers a unique combination of style, innovation and excellent value – including a range of body, bed and drivetrain configurations designed to fit a variety of buyer needs from a durable business tool to a versatile family adventurer. Titan is offered in King Cab and Crew Cab body styles with a choice of 4x4 and 4x2 d, along with two wheelbases and three bed lengths.
Every Titan comes equipped with a powerful 5.6-liter DOHC Endurance V8 rated at 317 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque and a maximum towing capacity of up to 9,500 pounds (when properly equipped).
