2014 Nissan Rogue named a “Must Test Drive” SUV for 2014 by AutoTrader.com

2014 Nissan Rogue named a "Must Test Drive" SUV for 2014 by AutoTrader.com

- All-new crossover recognized for practicality and sophisticated interior; joins the ranks of 2013 Pathfinder -

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Fresh off a record-setting March, encouraging news continues to pour in for the all-new 2014 Nissan Rogue. Today, AutoTrader.com, a leading resource for car shoppers and sellers, named the 2014 Rogue a "Must Test Drive" SUV for 2014. According to AutoTrader.com research, the test drive is considered one of the most influential parts of the decision making process for car shoppers, an important incentive to put together the "Must Test Drive" awards each year. The 2013 Nissan Pathfinder was named to the list last year.

In selecting the Rogue to the "Must Test Drive" list, editors at Autotrader.com noted the completely redesigned crossover's "affordability, versatility and refinement," and impressive features such as available third-row seating and Around View Monitor. Editors also pointed to the Rogue's revamped interior and best-in-class 33 miles per gallon (mpg) highway fuel economy in front-wheel drive models*. As AutoTrader.com Site Editor Brian Moody wrote, "The 2014 Nissan Rogue is simply the best compact SUV available."
For Nissan, this accolade comes on the heels of news that Rogue set an all-time monthly record with 19,420 deliveries in March 2014, an increase of 26.3 percent. Nissan's second-best selling vehicle has enjoyed impressive numbers since it went on sale in November 2013 - in its first full month of availability, sales of the 2014 Rogue were up 27.8 percent, and sales have only continued to climb since.
"With a wealth of new features, a revamped interior, superior gas mileage and much more, the 2014 Nissan Rogue was re-created to compete with the best in a very competitive segment," said Dan Mohnke, vice president, Nissan Chief Marketing Manager & Marketing Operations. "So far, sales numbers have confirmed it's doing just that, and recognitions like this one only point to increased success in the future. Realizing the tremendous influence of a test drive, we're especially grateful to be included in AutoTrader's 'Must Test Drive' list."
The Nissan Rogue, which was completely redesigned for the 2014 model year, challenges convention once again with bold emotive styling, a premium interior created with comfort and multi-tasking in mind, and an array of available affordable technologies. Rogue offers optional 3-row/7-passenger seating, along with exceptional passenger and cargo flexibility with its innovative EZ Flex seating System and innovative Divide-N-Hide Cargo System. Every 2014 Nissan Rogue is equipped with a responsive 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 170 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The engine is matched with an advanced Xtronic transmission. Rogue comes in three well-equipped models, S, SV and SL, each in a choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

The 2014 Frontier earns second place, Titan ranks ninth

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Already known for its fuel-efficient sedans and SUVs, Nissan is keeping fuel efficiency a priority as gas prices remain high. Edmunds.com named the 2014 Nissan Frontier and the 2014 Nissan Titan among its "Top 9 Most Fuel Efficient Trucks for 2014." The Frontier tied for second with 21 mpg combined highway/city fuel economy, while the Titan finished ninth with 15 mpg combined highway/city fuel economy.

"We've worked hard to produce pickups that not only provide excellent towing capability and ample cargo space, but also impressive fuel efficiency. This recognition by Edmunds validates our efforts to make fuel efficiency a priority across all platforms, from sedans to pickups."
The popular 2014 Nissan Frontier, which sold over 60,000 units in 2013, continues to be a leader in the mid-size truck segment, combining premium hardware and ample power. ADAPT AT WILL

  • Integrated Control (I-CON) System

The Integrated Control (I-CON) System provides the driver with a unique interface. Control cabin environment and numerous other vehicle adjustments. Or select Normal, Sport, Eco, or D-Mode, and at the push of a button your JUKE adapts to your driving demands.

DYNAMIC DRIVE

  • Torque Vectoring AWD

The Nissan JUKE's available torque vectoring all-wheel drive is an innovative stabilization system designed to keep you in full control in most driving scenarios. In addition to moving power between the front and rear wheels, the multi-sensor system automatically transfers rear-wheel power to the left or right, depending on which needs it more. So any change in direction, such as navigating a roundabout, can be performed smoothly, securely, and with agility.

FOLLOW NO ONE

  • Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG) Turbo Engine

The 1.6L Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG) turbo engine standard in the Nissan JUKE puts heightened turbocharged performance at your command. Rogue Named One of KBB.com's "10 Best SUVs Under $25,000"

2014 model recognized for stylish interior and superb technology offerings

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Noting its "refreshing new sense of style" among other attributes, the editors of Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com have named the all-new 2014 Nissan Rogue to their annual "10 Best SUVs Under $25,000" list.

This accolade confirms the attention that the 2014 Rogue has already received from customers - in its first full month of availability, sales of the 2014 Rogue were up 27.8 percent. This late-game sales charge capped a banner year for Nissan's second best-selling vehicle, with 162,751 units sold overall in 2013.

For mid-size SUV buyers, KBB.com notes that the "2014 Nissan Rogue is actually one of the most practical choices on this list. Case in point, the all-new Rogue returns best-in-class fuel economy on the highway* thanks to an enhanced CVT transmission, while a newly available third-row seat ups the Rogue's people-hauling capacity to seven."

From Nissan's perspective, practicality and affordability are essential pillars of the Rogue's appeal. "The all-new Nissan Rogue was designed to offer customers an excellent value, while still providing drivers with unparalleled style, technology, drivability and function," said Dan Mohnke, vice president, Nissan Chief Marketing Manager & Marketing Operations. "Earning a place on KBB.com's list of 10 Best SUVs under $25,000 helps to reaffirm our vision for this vehicle as well as its place in an extremely competitive segment."

The all-new, completely-redesigned 2014 Nissan Rogue, starting at $22,490 M.S.R.P.*, seats up to seven passengers with its optional third row and boasts best-in-class 33 miles per gallon (mpg) highway fuel economy in front-wheel drive models**.

2014 NISSAN VERSA NOTE REVIEW

2014 NISSAN VERSA NOTE REVIEW

From MSN Autos Review Article

Rating: 9.4

Bottom Line

Nissan is pushing the limits of fuel efficiency in an attractive package offering features not often found at this price point. With the bevy of optional tech in its 2014 Versa Note, Nissan has raised the bar for the entry-level class.

The 2014 Versa Note is Nissan's all-new candidate in the ultracompetitive entry-level segment. Already a better value than the outgoing Versa hatchback, Nissan is hoping to lure buyers with class-leading fuel-efficiency, cool techno-bits, uniquely good looks and an impressive list of options not always found in this segment. Are these improvements enough to hand the 2014 entry-level crown to Nissan?

Model lineup

The 2014 Nissan Versa Note is available in three trim levels: S, with a base price of $13,990; S Plus, which offers more interior amenities for a base price of $15,240; and the feature-laden SV, with its base price of $15,990. All trims come standard with 15-inch wheels with 16-inch alloys as an option with the SV continuously variable transmission. While the S and S Plus trims are similarly equipped, the SV adds a ton of standard features, such as one-touch power windows, power door locks with speed-sensing autolock, remote keyless entry, a Bluetooth hands-free phone system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, chrome and silver interior accents and a whole lot more. Not bad for an additional $1,250.

Under the hood

The only offered source of motivation for all 2014 Nissan Versa Notes is a 1.6-liter double-overhead-cam inline 4-cylinder engine producing 109 horsepower and 107 lb-ft of torque, featuring twin continuously variable timing control on both the intake and exhaust and dual injectors per cylinder. The dual injectors are a neat technology infusion for the Note. Since the injectors are smaller, they are able to produce a finer spray of fuel particles over a wider area, leading to a more complete combustion in the cylinder. While the outgoing model had a slightly torquier 1.8-liter 4-cylinder, Nissan saw fit to downsize and go after the ever-important fuel-economy numbers. The Versa Note S comes standard with a 5-speed transmission, while the S Plus and SV trim levels are only available with Nissan's Xtronic CVT.

Inner space

With seating for five, the cabin is remarkably open and spacious. Rear-seat legroom comes in at 38.3 inches — 3.7 inches more than the Chevrolet Sonic. Even with the increased legroom, Nissan managed to increase cargo space from 17.8 to 21.4 cubic feet. An available option to increase the utility of the Versa Note is the Divide-N-Hide adjustable floor. When you lower the standard 60-40 split-folding rear seats, you end up with an expanded flat cargo area that also creates additional storage underneath, just in case you need to stash anything of value while hauling bigger things above.

The list of standard features is pretty common: AM/FM/CD/aux-in audio system with four speakers, 12-volt power outlet, front door pockets with bottle holders, dual front and rear cupholders, front seatback pockets and so on. The cloth seats are standard fare with 4-way adjustability in the S and S Plus trims, and 6-way adjustment in the SV. Available upgrades include heated seats, navigation with real-time updates, USB input with iPod control, and steering-wheel-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls.

One interior option that really stands out is in the SL Tech package. Nissan is bringing technology normally found in much more expensive cars to the Versa Note with its around-view monitor. In a nutshell, it's a system of wide-angle cameras that provide a virtual 360-degree view around the car, assisting with parking in tight spots. You can even select close-ups from a specific camera — front, rear, curb — for a perfect park every time.

On the road

The Versa Note is an enjoyable drive. The steering is direct with great turn-in. The little 1.6-liter engine is very responsive to throttle input, although it feels overly sensitive in some situations. Braking feels confident and comes from power-assisted front disc/rear drums with anti-lock braking standard, electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist.

But you're not buying a Versa Note for high-performance driving. It's very economical, delivering an Environmental Protection Agency-estimated 31 mpg city/40 mpg highway/35 mpg combined. Even with hybridlike fuel economy, the car doesn't feel horribly slow. Of note (no pun intended): You can only get these mileage numbers with the CVT-equipped trims. While the CVT performed well in the road test, it was a bit indecisive with how much power to apply in a few cases, and there's an unmistakable whine at speed. Things are a little loud in the cabin at highway speeds, which, compounded with the whine from the CVT, serves to remind you that you're driving an economy car after all.

In order to achieve the class-leading fuel economy, Nissan added a few tricks to the Versa Note. First, it put the car on a diet to lose 300 pounds, with over 200 pounds realized through structure optimization and an additional 50 pounds shed with the new engine, CVT and driveshafts. Nissan also added an active grille shutter to the trims equipped with a CVT that limits airflow into the engine bay — a first for the company. At speeds over 20 miles per hour, the front grille shuts, which results in a reduction of air resistance by 0.01 coefficient of drag. Nissan even went so far as to vent the taillights in the name of improved aerodynamics. Their efforts paid off, though, with a 9 percent coefficient of drag improvement over the outgoing Versa hatchback.

Right for you?

If you're looking for an affordable, economical new car to take you from point A to point B with some special features, this is probably the car for you. It looks good and it's not a total bore to drive, either. The active aerodynamics and weight reduction will please your inner hypermiler (it's in there somewhere), while the around-view monitor will keep your techno-geek side satiated. Bottom line: We'd buy it, although we wish we could get the manual transmission in the higher trim levels.

Nissan LEAF Owner Turns 100,000 Gas-Free Commuting Miles

Nissan LEAF Owner Turns 100,000 Gas-Free Commuting Miles

SEATTLE – Steve Marsh just watched his odometer hit 100,000 miles on his all-electric Nissan LEAF. He has had the car since May of 2011.

"I have saved over $9,000 driving my LEAF compared to my previous car that got 30 miles to the gallon. And I have not had to burn 3,000 gallons of gasoline," said Marsh.

Washington State Governor Jay Inslee congratulated Marsh at a specially scheduled press conference on his accomplishment and made him Washingtonian of the Day. The Governor also announced his plans to expand the state's electrical corridor to the east and west.

"It is great that Washington State, which has led the world in so many ways, is again leading the world," said Inslee.

Marsh drives his Nissan LEAF more than 60 miles each way to work at Taylor Shellfish. The long commute was his biggest motivation for trading in his gas-fueled car for an electric vehicle.

"It was simply to save money. I could see the operating costs were going to be less than a gasoline car," said Marsh.

Marsh worked with his employer to install a charger outside his office building. He says he enjoys driving the car so much that he is using it all the time, even on weekends. He and his family, including his Irish Wolfhound, love to get in and go for a spin.

"I am confident that Nissan's LEAF is a perfect commuter car for those that put serious miles on their car or just need to run around town," said Marsh.

Nissan's Director of electric vehicle marketing and sales strategy Erik Gottfried says there are now 40,000 Nissan LEAFs on roads across the United States. Marsh helped the company reach that sales milestone by word-of-mouth marketing for the Nissan LEAF. He said many of his coworkers have followed his lead and now are driving electric cars.

"There is room for a family. It is a perfect car," said Marsh.

Loving my new baby girl....
by GrnEyedAngel from Fredericksburg, VA

5 OUT OF 5 STARS

Let me preface by stating that I don't purchase for the short-term...my last vehicle was a 97 Nissan 200SX SE who made 637,000+ (and still getting 40mpg highway) before someone decided to run a stop sign and total. I purchased my 2013 Sentra SR in May - admit that I treated myself with all packages and ever so happy with her. Likes (in no particular order): 1. Legroom and height space even w/factory moonroof - my man is 6'4"+ and perfectly comfortable. 2. Great rearseat room. 3. Sporty look. 4. Mileage - not many of the other gas sedans provide this fuel mileage - in mixed driving, getting averages of 37-38. 5. Trunk space is incredible for a small sedan with such a roomy interior. 6. Fit & Finish is excellent... 7. Controls not on the steering wheel are easily reached and not distracting. 8. Views from all windows are good - only a couple of blind spots and rear-view camera when backing is a blessing. 9. Having 8 BOSE speakers is amazing...clarity is wonderful Dislikes: 1. Miss the lumbar adjustments on the older Nissans. 2. CVT can sometimes be sluggish off of stops - seems to needs to be forced when serious acceleration is necessary. 3. Some of the bells/whistles w/the high-end packages require subscriptions after intro period - not clearly outlined (although great after purchase). 4. Hood latch and pole to keep hood open seem counter-intuitive. Overall, been a great car so far - finish is great and look in Black is classy while sporty.

Good highway commuter

I love the new ride of this car it's a great little commuter vehicle. Gets improved fuel economy and as with 30 city/40 miles per highway the Sentra has best gas mileage than ever. This car is just a beautiful automobile from more nice equipped features and the new styling looks like Nissan's flagship sedan Maxima with the LED taillights and has the Quest front end styled grill. It's a quiet car with a new CVT transmission makes a joyable to drive on the wide opened highways as using this car for a family hauler everybody fits and feels comfortable on their riding destination as the same with me. I looked at several compact cars as Civic, Dart, Corolla, 3, Elantra, Forte, Focus, Cruze, Verano and Sentra was my last pick. The Sentra is a great car with upgraded features and i love the NAV & bluetooth on it as both are easy to use no need of a sports car as bought with the SL pkg for more what i paid for on it.

Wanted this car before came out I love everything about my Sentra after the experience had at Oasis South Nissan saw a car with best interior styling and exterior looks like the big Altima. I like how the new displays are set up and climate control system is best. Bluetooth, push button start, leather with available heated seats, sunroof and heated mirrors were all great at the perfect price on the Sentra. Fuel economy is amazing i'm get over 39 mpg finished taking a trip up to Arkansas and Kansas just filled up the tank after coming back to Louisiana it took only $30 just put gas inside the car this is actually what i love about this car is mpg and it's comfortable with a upgraded interior and lots of room. A GOOD CAR WITH BEST FEATURES AND FUEL ECONOMY GLAD I LOOKED AT THIS SMALL CAR BEFORE FINDING OTHER MODELS.

Elegant looking and practical
by Wallywitness from Los Angeles

5 OUT OF 5 STARS

I am so used the inexpensive line of cars as being aimed at the youth. They look like sporty, fun cars. I was looking for an inexpensive car that looked more grown-up and mature. These are my thoughts: 1. Elegant looking exterior and interior. 2. Extremely spacious interior. 3. Extremely fuel efficient. I am getting 33.2 mpg in the city.(I only use the car to take my kids to school and Golf). I am getting 43 mpg on the freeway. I drive on ECO mode only. It is as efficient as my Toyota Camry Hybrid. 4. Grown up looks. It does not look like I am borrowing my son's car.(Corolla and Civic in particular) 5. Very comfortable ride. 6. I love the AC control has more settings than the Camry. 7. Extremely large Trunk space. I can fit 3 golf bags and carts and have room to spare.

To sum up my 2013 Nissan Sentra SV, it is more grown-up than the other cars in the category that are more into the sporty. They had me in mind when they built this car. I want elegance, interior room, storage capacity, extreme fuel efficiency and comfortable ride and drive. Perfect car for the family man or woman. I love my Sentra.

AutoMedia.com ranks the Nissan Titan & Frontier Top 10 Trucks to Buy in 2014!

In the market for a new truck? AutoMedia.com ranks the Nissan Titan & Frontier Top 10 Trucks to Buy in 2014!

2014 Nissan Frontier Pro4X: One of the most versatile trucks on the market gets even more versatile in the 2014 Nissan Frontier Pro4X trim, which pumps up the standard 4.0L V6 engine to 261 horsepower and 281 lb.-ft of torque, and throws in Bilstein shocks, plus a locking rear differential. So you know it can handle anything you throw at it – all from $29,840. A new bodykit and speed sensitive steering make the Frontier Pro4X the most athletic compact truck on the market. We can’t wait to see performance versions of the Chevrolet Colorado that could compete, but for right now, nothing is messing with the Frontier Pro4X in its weight class.

2014 Nissan Titan: The one we really want is the 2015 Nissan Titan with the new design and 5.0L Cummins diesel V8, but in the meantime, the 2014 Titan is still a worthy entry into the full-size pickup market. Pricewise, the Titan slots in between the cheaper Tundra and more expensive Silverado, at $30,265 starting point, and has them both beat when it comes to handling. Only a 5.6L V8 engine is available, with 317 horsepower and 385 lb.-ft of torque, and that may be holding the Titan back with its unimpressive 13/18 MPG rating. The interior could use a refresh and there aren't many standard features, but if performance and capability are strictly your game then the 2014 Titan isn’t a bad choice at all. We just assume that the 2015 version will make a lot more sense to most truck-lovers, and their wallets.

CONSUMERS REPORT REVIEW: REPRINT

CONSUMERS REPORT REVIEW: REPRINT

2014 Nissan Rogue adds refinement and boosts fuel economy.

Nissan’s redesigned 2014 Rogue is a major upgrade over the outgoing model, which will remain on sale for now as the Rogue Select. Based on our initial experience, the new Rogue is the nicest redesign Nissan has done in years. That’s a good thing, as the Rogue is Nissan’s second-largest selling model, and redesigns have been a challenge for the automaker, as exemplified by the Nissan Sentra, Nissan Versa, and Infiniti Q50.

The new 2014 Nissan Rogue is larger, with a comfortable and spacious rear seat, and an available third-row for wee children—a rarity in a small SUV.

The hushed interior lends the Rogue a sense of refinement, marred only slightly by the engine whining under acceleration, when the continuously variable transmission (CVT) allows the engine revs to soar. As before, the 170-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine isn’t the smoothest, but it’s unobtrusive in normal driving. That said, this CVT is more palatable than most. It doesn’t flare out as much as others, and brings the revs back under control relatively quickly.

Compared to the outgoing model, the Rogue ride comfort is improved. Our engineers note that it feels steady and absorbent. Further, handling is responsive and instills confidence.

And that CVT pays dividends in fuel economy: In 400 miles of driving, we saw 26.5 mpg. That’s not an official test number, since the car isn’t on sale yet, and the SUV we drove was borrowed from Nissan for a fee. But this initial observation does suggest that the Rogue may get among the best fuel economy among small SUVs. Nissan claims an 18-percent improvement in fuel economy and 33 mpg on the highway from front-wheel-drive models. For comparison, the current Rogue got 22 mpg overall and 27 mpg highway in our tests.

The new Rogue will offer a suite of driver aids, including blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, and the same 360-degree video view system with moving object detection found in some larger Nissan SUVs. An optional navigation system will be available with full voice control, live traffic and weather, and an app interface. Prices start at about $23,000 and run to almost $30,000 for a fully loaded model. The Tennessee-built 2014 Rogue goes on sale in November. The carry-over, imported Rogue Select goes on sale in January 2014, priced under $20,000. This is the company's fifth totally redesigned model to come out in the last 18 months.  The 2014 Rogue follows the all-new Altima, Pathfinder, Sentra and Versa Note. Nissan Division sales, spurred by gains in these top-selling, core-models rose 24.3 percent in August to 108,614 units. This was an August record.

"It was time to refresh our model line. When we went through the 2008 financial crisis, we delayed several products. Our product portfolio was five to six years old, and it was time to bring out the new ones," said Carla Bailo, senior vice president, research and development for Nissan.

The Rogue is Nissan's second best-selling vehicle in the U.S. lineup.  This new model has bold new styling, a premium interior meant for multi-tasking, and an array of available technologies.

NissanConnect with Navigation is one available option.  NissanConnect Apps can now come on this model for the first time.  Class-exclusive Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Warning are also available, so drivers can see 360 degrees around the car and even get warned when something is in the way.

"There is growing demand for compact SUVs around the world due to their user-friendly combination of right-sized exteriors, flexible interior utility and low environmental impact," said Fred Diaz, divisional vice president, Sales and Marketing, Nissan North America, Inc. "With this exciting, innovative, all-new design, Nissan is aggressively targeting increased sales and share in every market. By sharing development costs, while adapting powertrains, designs and equipment offerings for each specific region, Nissan has been able to add features and technologies while keeping prices affordable. No matter the specific market nameplate, it's a guaranteed winner."

The 2014 Rogue's new exterior design provides a premium, high-quality look and feel with available LED headlights, standard LED signature daytime running lights, outside mirrors with integrated turn signals and rear spoiler. Also available are a power panoramic moonroof and a power rear liftgate.

For the first time, Rogue will offer optional 3-row/7-passenger seating, thanks to its improved interior packaging efficiency. Among the many interior highlights are the innovative, class-exclusive*** Divide 'n Hide® Cargo System providing 18 adjustable variations (two-row models) between the cargo and occupant areas. The premium Rogue interior also offers exceptional passenger and cargo versatility, with best-in-class*** front headroom. The class-exclusive*** EZ Flex™ Seating System includes a reclining 40/20/40-split 2nd row seat and 2nd row legroom of 37.9 inches and 9.0 inches of fore/aft adjustability. Standard interior features include Streaming Audio via Bluetooth® and Hands-free Text Messaging Assistant.

"Rogue's bold, dynamic new styling is going to generate tremendous attention," said Diaz. "And once buyers take a look inside at the roomy, premium interior and experience the long list of affordable technologies, we know they'll be delighted."

Available Rogue technology features include NissanConnect? with Navigation and NissanConnect? Apps; Around View® Monitor with Moving Object Detection; Blind Spot Warning; Lane Departure Warning; and Forward Collision Warning.

Every 2014 Nissan Rogue is equipped with a responsive 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 170-horsepower and a best-in-class*** 175 lb-ft of torque. Also standard are an advanced Xtronic CVT® (Continuously Variable Transmission), Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), and 4-wheel disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and a choice of an intuitive All-Wheel Drive system or front-wheel drive. The new Rogue carries the distinctive "PURE DRIVE" badge, signifying Nissan's commitment to developing more environmentally friendly transportation for every market.
