Nissan Altima is “The New Champ”
Fresh on the heels of winning AAA's "Top Commuter Vehicle" in the sedan category, the Nissan Altima left the Honda Accord and Mazda 6 in the dust in a recent Edmunds.com 3-car road test competition.
According to Edmunds.com: ... the [Honda] Accord just couldn't quite keep pace with the Altima. [ Accord's] ride comfort, storage options, seat comfort and cargo flexibility are all a step behind the Nissan's. . . .[t]he 2013 Nissan Altima 2.5 SV...drives well, has comfortable seats and remains quiet on the highway. And even though it was the least expensive car here, it rarely felt like it. The mileage figures only add to the Nissan's appeal. Delivering almost 5 mpg more than the Accord and Mazda 6 on our test loop was no small feat. Then it followed it up by surpassing the EPA's combined mileage rating in city and highway driving. That's a rare feat in any type of car. Sure, you could find a hybrid sedan that's more efficient, but none of them put together the complete package as well as the Nissan Altima.

Interior Car Detailing Tips
#1: Get the right products!
There are many types and brands of interior cleaning products. Depending on the material you are cleaning, you may need several products. For the leather portions, make sure to use leather cleaner.
#2: Soft cloth - or socks!
Spray your cleaner directly on interior surfaces, like steering wheel, dash board or onto a clean, soft terry cloth. An old cotton sock works well too!
#3 Toothbrushes & cotton swabs!
Use a toothbrush to remove stubborn stains and keep a bag of cotton swabs handy for interior crevices, steering wheel dashboard and center console! You'll be amazed at how much better the car looks when you clean all the detail spots.
#4: Glass cleaner makes it shine!
Glass cleaner puts a nice shine on interior plastic (dashboard, center consoles, etc) as well as the windows!

Dog-Safe Driving Tips!
Thinking about taking your dog for a ride or a road trip? Traveling can be stressful for both you and your pet companions. We put together the following tips to help you prepare for a safe and smooth car ride for yourself, your pet, and your passengers.
Always use a harness and a seat belt.
A dog should never be roaming freely in your car or sitting your lap. Petting your dog, letting him sit in your lap, and other behaviors can distract you and increase the risk of a crash. The best way to travel with a dog is to keep them in the back seat in his/her crate or with a harness attached to a seat belt.
Going on a longer drive or trip? Another option is to keep your pets safe and secure in a well-ventilated crate or carrier. And make sure it is large enough for your pet to stand, sit, lie down and turn around in.
Keep your dogs’ head inside the car.
Dogs with their heads hanging out of the window sure look cute, but are at risk of injury to their eyes, nose, ears, mouth and face from airborne debris, or could be injured by flying objects. Plus, they are not protected in a crash. Keep the windows up and the dog securely belted in.
Don’t leave pets in the car.
Never leave a pet unattended in your car. On a hot day, even with the windows open, a parked car can become very hot, and heatstroke can develop. In cold weather, your car can act as a refrigerator, and causing your pet to freeze to death. Unless you're taking your pet to the vet or traveling with your pet, just leave him at home.
Pet travel kit.
If you travel frequently with your pet, you should have a pet travel kit that includes food, a bowl, leash, a waste scoop, plastic bags, grooming supplies, medication and a pet first-aid kit. Also pack a favorite toy or pillow to give your pet a sense of familiarity. Additionally, you may want to invest in rubber floor mats and waterproof seat covers, available at any of our 7 Mossy Nissan Parts Centers.

NEWS: Sentra #1 Compact Sedan
Looking for the best value in compact sedans? According to Cars.com, you'll find it in our new 2013 Mossy Nissan Sentra! Sentra is one of our top sellers here at Mossy Nissan. Come find out why San Diego Nissan buyers have been recommending the Sentra to friends and family.
Here's the full article from Cars.com:
Car shoppers want a long list of features in a new car, even if that car is a compact sedan that starts around $16,000. That starting price usually doesn't include what many consider "must-have" features - chief among them an automatic transmission. We took 11 compact sedans and looked at their prices when equipped with the following features:
- Automatic transmission
- Cruise control
- USB input
- Remote entry
- Tilt/telescoping steering wheel
- Steering-wheel audio controls
It may seem like a simple search, but if you're looking at a new Nissan Sentra, Dodge Dart or Volkswagen Jetta, you'll need to know the specific trim level, options and option packages to ensure you won't regret not having that one missing feature.
We took those as-equipped prices and then added five years of fuel costs to come up with the most affordable compact sedan on the market.
Having recently purchased our long-term Honda Civic that has all of these features in a base model, we thought it had a good shot of scoring well here. But the results were somewhat surprising, especially in terms of what car was No. 1.
Nissan's redesigned 2013 Sentra comes out on top. It wasn't easy to get all the options we wanted on the Sentra. First, you must choose the SV trim level and then the Driver's Package; many competitors deliver them in a specific trim level without the need for options. Configured like this, the as-tested price was actually higher than the Toyota Corolla and Kia Forte. But it bested those two thanks to segment-leading fuel costs.
We originally ran these calculations before Nissan announced a price reduction on the Sentra and other models last week. It still came out on top before the announcement, but the gap widened from a mere $90 to $730 between the Sentra and the next most affordable car, the Forte.

Safe Driving Tips
#1. DRIVE NOW, TEXT LATER! Texting is now the #1 cause of accidents and fatalities on the road - more than alcohol. Please keep your phone off when driving! The ticket will cost you a minimum of $159!
#2: PRACTICE! Find an empty parking lot and imagine a situation that you would have to react quickly in either swerving to one side or the other.
#3: DON'T OVERREACT! If you ever find yourself drifting out of your lane don't jerk the wheel. That could cause you to oversteer into another car ...or into oncoming traffic.
#4: HIT THE BRAKES! Many young drivers feel uneasy about slamming down on their brakes...but sometimes it is the only way to avoid an accident. Modern Anti Lock Brakes make a pulsing sensation you can feel thru the brake pedal, don't be afraid of it - that's means they're working!
